Josh Kimbrough’s Butterflies have been meticulously crafting their follow-up to the beloved Residual Child over the last few months. In the meantime, Kimbrough has enlisted visual artist Adam Graetz to create a music video for a new song, titled “Ruins”. The track is a distinct departure for Butterflies, reveling in washes of synths and a dramatic bass groove. The accompanying video is an impressionistic, semi-narrative fantasy about the nature of memory. Watch above, and purchase “Ruins” digitally via Bandcamp.

Sylvan Esso are gearing up for a Fall tour with Minor Alps, supporting their new Hey Mami / Play It Right 12″. To celebrate, they have released a special remix of “Hey Mami” by Charles Spearin, a Canadian musician known for his work with Broken Social Scene, Do Make Say Think, Feist and more. Spearin absolutely re-contextualizes the song, burying it in beautiful washes of field recordings and drowned guitar chords. Impose Magazine premiered the remix today, and also published an interview with the band. Check it all out here, and catch the band on tour this Fall. Dates below:
