2002-2003
The Beauregards started in early 2002 in Chapel Hill, NC. All high school friends, they quickly recorded their first LP, Prague, on a four-track recorder and released it themselves.
Soon after, original bassist Ben Matchar left the band and was replaced by Stuart Bell. The addition significantly affected
the dynamic of the band and the result was the more energetic All You Ever Do Is Embarrass Me, an
album depicting a relationship gone stale, among other subjects, through the lens of good old indie pop rock songs. The album was recorded with Stephen Tunnell
(Vibrant Green) at his Ridgehouse Studios in the Spring of 2003. The Beauregards final show was coincidentally
their CD release show for Embarrass Me, as the members disbanded and moved on to college. Hunter, Stuart and Javier
went on to form Participation Award. Stuart is also half of Trekky's hip-hop juggernaut, Endless Mic.
All You Ever Do Is Embarrass Me is the Beauregards' second effort. Dynamic and energy
distinguish Embarrass Me from the Beau's early work with Prague and provide the backdrop for Mulrenin's
clever but beautiful vocal treatments of a faded relationship. These songs will stay with you.
Riding the Lucky Wave
Prague is the Beauregards' self-released debut. It stands as document of coming of age, and
that nostalgic quality is present both in the music and in the songwriting. This is the groundwork for later brilliance from the Beaus and
and Participation Award.
